Wonder

I cannot help but wonder why it is that we have trouble understanding and experiencing most everything in its true form until we have first experienced its opposite? How can we say we have experienced the light if we have yet to walk in the dark? We see so many taking foolish chances with their own lives and the lives of others every day. They cannot appreciate life until they have experienced death first. We cannot appreciate safety until we have been in danger. How can you know what it is to do right by someone, until you have truly been wronged, or know true love until you have experienced hate? Your laughter will never know its true capabilities until it has known true despair. All those things in life that are good are always there; only sadly never seen, heard, or felt until their opposite is first. For the most part, it does not have to be that way at all. There are those in our lives that have seen, felt, and heard the worst for us already. They make every possible effort to spare us the pain they have known. This is found most often in a parent raising a child, a friend sharing their experience with a friend, or perhaps even a stranger with profound compassion for the others well being. Do not be one that closes your eyes, ears, and hearts to someone in your life that wishes only to show you a better path. Do not let your pride close your heart and mind to the life that surrounds you. You can make a difference in the life of another. Please, do not wait for a tragedy in your life; do something, anything to prevent one. I would rather you hate me and live than love me from the grave. These are simply thoughts I share with you, Pay it forward my friend.

Remember you can not expect to get that which you are not willing to freely give.
