When he was just a boy

When he was just a young boy still living with mom and dad

It was almost a daily routine to see his dad drunk and mad

This young boy was a hero in his loving mother’s eyes

He was there when no one else was, holding her when she cries

He heard the names and saw his mother slapped around

Like a hero would, he came and threw his dad to the ground.

Then along came another man with a different attitude.

From his heart, he would show them a love all so true.

He was told all these stories as their lives together entwined

How a dad could be this way he could not wrap around my mind

He had his own run-in with this so-called dad one day

Sparring his life and told him; thank your children that you walked away

His wife and children were his no more

There is another man they all love and adore

The young boy is older now with a family of his own

It breaks my heart to see the man into which he has grown

Like a shadow of the man he stood up to many times without fear

He stands over his own wife in anger as her eyes begin to tear

I hope before it is too late he will see the error of his ways

Or like his mother and himself lose his family to another for the rest of their days.

Simply my thoughts:

Dean Butler

You can look as hard as you want to and never find an acceptable excuse for abuse

There is none. You can say well she made me mad, I was drunk, and I had a bad day or whatever they have all been used to before. If you physically or verbally abuse anyone especially someone you claim to love, maybe it is time to take a long look at yourself and rethink your definition to love. No real man will ever look up to a man that does these things nor has any respect for them. If you can’t get along with the one you claim to love then move on. I can promise you there is a real man out there waiting to and wanting to love them. Don’t ever think that you have to accept abuse because there is nothing or no one else for you. No one deserves to be abused No one.
