Please Teach Me
Please teach me how to be polite, kind, respectful, thoughtful, and courteous. Please teach me how to be grateful, appreciative, and thankful. Please teach me how to be humble, simple, and modest. Teach me to have empathy, compassion, and sensitivity. Teach me to be selfless, helpful, and giving. Teach me what is right, righteous, and reverent. Teach me equality, fairness, and justice. Teach me to be strong, brave, and courageous. I am all that you teach me. I become what you taught me to be. Teach me to hate, I will hate, I may even hate you. Teach me to hurt, I will hurt whoever or whatever I choose, I may even hurt you. Teach me that it is okay to do nothing, I will be happy doing absolutely nothing. When we look around at what our world is like today. Who is to blame? Me? You? Yes, we all are. We are the products of our parents, our children are the products, of theirs, and their children their products. We are in control until we decide to give up that control. Our schools teach whatever they want because parents no longer get involved at the schools. Politicians change laws and policies because people are no longer involved in politics. It is easier to simply say that it does not affect my life than it is to stand up for change. When the effect is finally noticeable, you will feel hopeless and wish you had done more sooner. If you are happy with the way the world is today, maybe you are part of the problem. We cannot wish for and hope for change, and not be part of the change. A lot of what we become starts in our homes and our schools. You can hide in the shadows because you are afraid your friends and family will not agree with or support your political and or religious beliefs. Or you can simply not give a damn and put your children, their future, and the future of your country first. Now, Teach that!
