One thing that cannot be denied. Every one of us came from our mother’s womb. When we got here we knew absolutely nothing about anything. In fact, everything that we know today was taught to us by someone at some point and time in our lives. Does that mean that at some point in our lives, we had to be really stupid because we did not know anything? The definition of stupid is “without intelligence”. We are all intelligent to some degree or level. Yet so many as they go through life forget their humble beginning. Not everyone has exactly the same opportunities presented to them as they grow into adulthood and thereafter. If we did no one would need anyone else for anything because we would all know exactly the same things. Could you just imagine being a plumber as well as a brain surgeon, and a nuclear physicist? As bad as some may hate to admit it, you just do not know everything and you never will. This is the other part you may find disturbing, you will eventually have to ask someone for help. You may actually even have to pay them. Even if you have convinced yourself that you are an expert in your field and there is nothing anyone can teach you, you are sadly mistaken. Believe it or not, EVERYTHING evolves. The evolution in your field of expertise could have taken place in another country and taken a year to reach your area and guess what someone or something will have to teach you. When that happens I certainly hope that they do not try to make you feel dumb or stupid for asking questions. Almost everyone knows that the dumbest question ever is the one never asked. Nonetheless, so many who have a lot of knowledge about something, sometimes obtain with it a God complex and make an effort to make everyone that asks them anything feel stupid for asking. News flash at one point in your life you were that person. If while acquiring your knowledge someone made you feel inferior and hurt your feelings, why would you want to be what you hated? Sadly not only do we find this God complex in the workforce but in our schools, sports, and even in social media. I could write a book elaborating on this alone. People as much as some would like to believe they are, none of us are any better than the next person. If you really want to make an impression, treat people more as your equal in every way and watch how much more you gain from it. The old saying “Treat others as you would like to be treated” really works. And that is NOT Rocket Science.
