Not a shot was fired

On March 1, 2014, several men armed with long knives converged on a train station in Kunming China, and stabbed to death 31 people while injuring hundreds more. Not a shot was fired. In March of 2010 one of the bloodiest massacres in Nigerian history, more than 500 Christians were butchered near the city of Jose by machete-wielding Muslims. The attack which didn’t even spare toddlers and infants was reportedly in reprisal for Christian attacks on Muslims two months earlier. Not a shot was fired. On September 11, 2001, 2996 men, women, and children lost their lives when airplanes crashed into the 110-story twin tower world trade center and the pentagon. Not a shot was fired. In September of 1911, two families in neighboring homes were murdered in their beds in Colorado Springs. The murderer used an ax handle to kill a man, his wife, and their one-year-old son. Then did the same to another woman, her six-year-old daughter, and her three-year-old son. Not a shot was fired. Before the 9/11 attacks, the deadliest single non-natural disaster in American history occurred. On November 18, 1978, in Guyana, Jim Jones ordered 912 men, women, and children to drink a grape-flavored drink laced with cyanide and Valium, 912 men, women, and children died. Not a shot was fired. Before guns, bows, and arrows, knives, swords, spears, fire, tools and even rocks have been used to kill in great numbers all around this world. You can remove every firearm in existence in the entire world and still not have come close to fixing the problem. Killers will kill, they will find a way history has proven this fact over and over. Guns, planes, cars, knives, swords, bows and arrows, tools, and rocks are not the problem and cannot always take a life on their own. It is impossible to find every human being that can carry out any of these evil heinous acts of violence. You can have all the background checks, mental evaluations, and precautions possible and they will still exist, they will still kill. The very best possible solution would be for more people to be armed and trained in the use of firearms for self-defense. An armed person may not be able to prevent the loss of all lives, but the chances of mass killings would be far less likely. The war against terrorists and homicidal maniacs is just that, a war. In a war you don’t disarm in hopes of defeating the enemy, you arm more. Maybe in some delusional fantasy world, you can defeat this problem by disarming law-abiding citizens, but I can assure you in the REAL world, it will never happen. If a criminal followed the laws of our land, they wouldn’t be criminals and we would NOT be having this discussion.
