I saw a puppy today weighed down with a large chain. He was shivering and shaking lying in the rain. I stopped and went to him holding him close to my side. I looked toward the owner’s nice home overwhelmed with anger, I cried. Whoever told you that big boys don’t cry? Whoever told you that told you a lie.
I saw this lady today on the park bench all alone. She was badly beaten and battered out from her home she was thrown. I sat down beside her tending her wounds with care. She warned me of her husband telling me to please beware. I put my arms around her pulling her close to my side. I looked at her cuts and bruises, her broken heart and I cried. Whoever told you that big boys don’t cry? Whoever told you that told you a lie.
From a trash can raised an old man with a practically eaten burger in his hand. I could see at first sight I had to get some food for this starving man. He thanked me with a heartfelt smile and teary eyes when I handed him his food. Wondering how so many others there could laugh and be so crude. I sat there beside him close by my side looking toward the others and I cried. Whoever told you that big boys don’t cry? Whoever told you that told you a lie.
It’s sad to see these things I see knowing that others see them too. I can’t help but wonder if they would feel differently if they were just once in their shoes. If it’s any consolation to you in a time of despair. I hope a man or woman with compassion will show you how they care. Some say to cry is a sign of weakness, I strongly disagree. It takes a lot when you think of it to open up your heart so freely.
You can hide behind that tough guy mannerism and strife. And hope the day never comes you need compassion in your life. Not ever coming close in comparison to the best. Until from within you have cried like the rest.
