I’m Grown

So many are quick to announce they are grown. They want all to be aware that they are no longer a child and will not tolerate being treated like one. If you look up the definition of grown, It tells us fully grown is mature. Mature is showing the mental and emotional qualities of an adult. An adult is mature and sensible, not childish. So it would seem that you could be grown as in age, size, etc, none of which in all reality makes you a grownup, or a mature adult mentally. Which would you really choose, what you want or what you need? Immature adults are delusional legal age people that believe a cigarette between their lips and an alcoholic drink makes them grown. Wrong I did both when I was just a kid barely in my teens. Immature adults go hunting and or fishing with the guys when they can’t pay their bills at home, spending money they can’t afford to spend. Even if you don’t spend a penny you are wasting time on something you want rather than being out there making money to take care of what you need. The immature adult goes on extravagant trips and vacations convinced they deserve them. Yet don’t have a home of their own to come back to and complain about having to live with someone else. The immature adult borrows money from relatives to help pay bills, but won’t get caught dead in anything that isn’t a designer label. While you may very well have yourself convinced that you are grown and you may not believe it still, you have a lot of growing up to do. Being grown means making planned and informed decisions that are going to benefit you and your family if you have one, not just today but every day after you make it. Being grown, especially when you have a family is being selfless. It means you don’t mind wearing no-name clothes so that your children can have what they need. You may have yourself convinced that others will talk about you if you don’t have the nicer things. Um hello, where do you think I’m getting my information from, a dictionary? Yes, you think they are saying wow that’s a really nice car or truck! What they are really saying is, “They might be able to afford a place to live, if they didn’t spend all they made on a car or truck”. You think they are saying, “wow those are some styling clothes!” What they are really saying is “ Wonder where they are stealing their clothes from, I know they can’t afford them?” If you really want to impress your friends and family? Simply live within your own means and be you. Not the you that you portray, but the real you that they already know and wish would come out of hiding. Do you want to impress your friends and family? Then make the right choices in your life, act like you are indeed grown.
